So too with Natalia Maksimova. She started working through Maandag® to gain as much experience as possible as a government lawyer.
‘When I received a message from Maandag® via LinkedIn to have a chat, I was actually perfectly happy working through another secondment agency,’ Natalia said. ‘My husband said: “Just have a chat, you’ve got nothing to lose”.’ And Natalia did just that. She proved to be a good match with Maandag®. ‘It was such a nice conversation! It was informal, and we talked about my goals. The recruiter asked me what I wanted to achieve. The conversation revealed that I would like to work as a freelancer later on. I do need broader experience to do that, however. I had never worked at municipalities before, for example, and Maandag® was able to help me with that.’
Conscious choice for varied work
Natalia has been working at Maandag® since October. She is seconded to the Municipality of Renkum where she is carrying out two assignments. ‘I handle appeals around fees, and I am the secretary for the committee hearings. In less than three months, I have already gained tons of experience at a municipality and already completed three courses at Maandag®. For instance, I did a general administrative law course and another on general municipal byelaw. I have already been able to gain so much knowledge at Maandag® in a short time.’
The 30-year-old lawyer has been seconded to various places since she graduated, which is a conscious choice. ‘I don't see myself working at the same organisation for years on end. I'm not the type for that. I enjoy being posted to different places and taking on new challenges. Also, in terms of job content.’
The added value of Maandag®
In early 2022, Natalia will take up another new challenge at another municipality through Maandag®, she will also work there as the secretary at committee hearings. ‘I continue to brainstorm with Maandag® about my goals. I really find that an added value of this secondment agency. They focus on what I want to achieve in the future. They keep a close eye on my goals.’
